What is wellbeing?

Because well-being is so different from one person to the next, it can be challenging to define. However, at its core, well-being refers to the state of being comfortable, healthy, and happy. It’s a positive state of physical, mental, and emotional health.

The emotional intelligence assessment we use has an entire section dedicated to well-being, which pulls together EQ scores on several different skills that impact our overall health.

Physical Wellbeing 🏋️

Physical wellbeing is perhaps the most straightforward aspect of wellbeing to understand. It encompasses the health of your body. This includes factors such as nutrition, exercise, sleep, and regular medical check-ups. Physical wellbeing means feeling energized, maintaining a healthy weight, and having the physical strength and stamina to enjoy life’s activities.

Mental Wellbeing 🧘🏽‍♀️

Mental wellbeing relates to the health of your mind. It involves factors such as managing stress, developing resilience, and maintaining a positive mindset. Mental wellbeing means feeling mentally sharp, emotionally stable, and being able to cope with life’s challenges. It involves self-awareness, self-acceptance, and the ability to adapt and grow through life’s ups and downs.

Emotional Wellbeing 😊

Emotional well-being is closely tied to mental well-being but focuses more on the emotional aspect of our lives. It involves understanding and managing your emotions, building strong relationships, and having a sense of purpose and meaning in life. Emotional well-being means experiencing a range of emotions, both positive and negative, and being able to navigate them effectively.

Social Wellbeing 🫂

Social wellbeing refers to the quality of your relationships and your sense of connectedness with others. Humans are social creatures, and our relationships play a vital role in our overall wellbeing. Building and maintaining healthy relationships, having a support system, and feeling a sense of belonging are crucial components of social wellbeing.

Financial Wellbeing 💰

Financial well-being is the art of managing your money in a way that not only covers your immediate needs but also secures your future. It involves creating a budget, saving for emergencies, and investing wisely. Achieving financial well-being provides peace of mind and the freedom to pursue your life’s goals without the constant worry of financial stress.
