Working with an Executive Coach is like opening a new door to both your career and personal growth. As an Executive Coach based in Lisbon, I find that people are really interested in what I do. The most common question I’m asked after people find out that I’m an Executive Coach in Lisbon is “What do you coach people on?“
The long answer is: it really depends on the individual I’m working with. Executive coaching is all about customizing our sessions to fit the unique needs and goals of each person. Whether it’s about becoming a better leader, handling career changes, improving communication, or building stronger teams, the focus varies widely.
Having said that, here are some of the most common themes:
- Confidence in the professional sphere
- Work on specific skills, including communication and emotional intelligence
- Building management skills, like delegation, giving feedback, difficult conversations, and time management
- Taking a more proactive approach toward career growth and learning & development
- Building leadership skills
- Time management and prioritization
- Goal setting
- Mindset changes
- Getting out of a rut
- Managing stress, dealing with overwhelm
- Exploring new career options
Another question I get is “Who do I coach?”
- Startup Founders
- Managers and Leaders in Corporate and Not-for-Profit Organizations
- High-Potential Employees
- Solopreneurs / Consultants / Remote Workers
- Other Coaches
- And not just in Lisbon – I coach people virtually from Minnesota to New York to London to Tel Aviv.
My coaching style is centered around empowering the person I’m coaching. I was trained in a pure coaching approach. This means I don’t just give advice or recommendations. While I do offer resources and ideas, it’s crucial that any action plan comes directly from the person being coached. I very rarely make recommendations or advise. This approach ensures that they’re more likely to follow through because the solutions come from them, not me.
This method is effective because lasting change has to come from within. I provide resources and ideas, of course, but generally, when proposed actions don’t come from the coachee themselves, there is very rarely follow-through. It’s about helping them find their own insights and solutions.
Executive coaching is a process. It’s about working together to set goals that align with the individual’s values and aspirations, examining behaviors and decisions, and overcoming obstacles that might be holding them back.
Business owners, managers, and executives face many challenges such as managing complex situations, dealing with stress, and leading effectively. My job is to guide them through these challenges, offering support and a fresh perspective. It’s about making them not just better leaders, but more fulfilled people.
In summary, executive coaching is a powerful tool for anyone looking to improve professionally and personally. If you’d like to know more, schedule a discovery call with me.
